Hot Dame Clothing was created by Jenny Rota and Chelsea Dewald, sisters, raised in Beaumont Alberta, each with creative passion and boundless energy. Hot Dame Clothing is a brand for women, by women, in Canada, to fill a need of quality, comfortable fashion.
Jenny, the older of the two, pursued a post-secondary education in business management, following in the footsteps of her entrepreneurial father. Jenny worked in retail and restaurant management for nearly a decade. Ready to start on her own journey and spread her creative wings she decided to start a new venture with her sister.
Chelsea, younger by three years, is an artist at heart. Substituting post-secondary education for real world experience, she rose through the ranks of retail management positions in various well-known outlets. Fast forward her story a few years; loving nuptials and two beautiful daughters and new priorities. After taking some time away to raise a family, her decision to take her skills, and creative flair and team up with her sister seemed a natural fit.
The sisters, both wives and mothers, first joint-venture was to capitalize on the 2012 trend of feather accents - from jewelry to hair pieces they handmade products and sold them every weekend at local artisan markets. With the business acumen to recognize the trend would fade, after one market season they transitioned into distributing for a well-known direct sales jewelry brand. After a brief period of time, they came upon a new opportunity, and seized it, which became the business we know today as Hot Dame Clothing.
Hot Dame Clothing is built on the staple of dye-sublimation leggings, with all designs being created in Canada, many incorporating well-known local artists. The concept not only supports their endeavour, but also the local art scene, with all prints paying back royalties to the creators. It has expanded into a full line of high quality polyester and bamboo products - crop tops, kimonos, skirts, dresses that provide a clothing option that is breathable, moisture wicking and anti-bacterial, a line of bamboo basics and in 2019 will be launching their much anticipated ladies velvet collection.
